Fundraising for a new Playground in the Rec

In November 2022 local resident Sarah Perman kicked off the regeneration of the Halliwick Rec by creating a survey for the local community. 150 residents filled in the survey with an overwhelming majority (82%) expressing a desire for new playground equipment.   And we couldn’t agree more.

Shortly after that a small friends group was formed with the goal of improving the Rec facilities for all ages and abilities.

Working with Kompan, Barnet Council’s preferred partner for the design and build of their playgrounds, two possible designs have been created. Both designs cater for 2 -14 year olds and are fully inclusive with equipment for children with SEND.  The first design has a budget of £250K and the second design has a budget of £200K.  We would love to get as near as we can to the £250K budget. 

The designs also incorporated feedback which was collected from the local community at an event held in the rec in June 2022.

So far we have managed to raise a whopping £193K. With 150K from the Barnet East Area Committee and the rest from trusts and grants.
